LENT

Posted By: K.E.L. , Date: 2/6/2010
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. This year it falls on Wednesday February 17.

We are offering two service times throughout the Lenten season. The first service will begin at 11:15 a.m. and end around 12 Noon. A lunch will be provided downstairs in the dining room through the school kitchen. If you are interested in staying for the lunch please call the church office by the Monday before so the cook may prepare accordingly.

The second service will be held at 6:45 p.m. with a Soup Supper beforehand at 6 p.m.

In the ancient churches of the Roman Empire the period of Lent was a time to prepare the "catecheumens," or new disciples in the basics of the faith in anticipation of baptism and reception of Holy Communion. With this in mind we will imagine that we are catecheumens and receive instruction in the holy faith for the six weeks leading up to Easter. The Lenten series is entitled "Catechism and Cross," and we will specifically look at the three articles of the Apostle's Creed and tie them into the Passion of our Lord.

On February 2nd Faithful Savior Community School opened registration for next school year. The packets are already beginning to come back. The packet can be downloaded from the website. Go to the principal's blog and find it in the downloads.
Anyone who registers before March 31st will only need to pay $25 per family in registration fees. After this date, the registration fee becomes $50 per family.
We again will offer education to children 3years old and potty-trained for preschool on a full and part time basis to 8th grade.
Our classes are small at about 12 students with very reasonable tuition rates.
Come join our school family which is a Judeo-Christian ministry of the church. We look forward to sharing a great education and God's love with you!!

BRIDGE THE GAP SUNDAY

Posted By: KEL , Date: 11/10/2009
A Special Sunday (usually the 4th Sunday of each month) to BRIDGE THE GAP between Faithful Savior Community School and Faithful Savior Lutheran Church. The school meets during the weekdays and most church activities occur in the evenings or on the weekends so most of the church members never rub shoulders with the teachers and students. We have so much in common: A Savior who loved us and paid the ultimate price for us, laying down His life for our sins. Both the school families and the church families want to see the school flourish and accomplish its mission of equipping children for life in this world and for eternal life. And the school won't reach its full potential if the church is not thriving. In addition to this there are many needy families these days who can't afford even the most economical Christian education for their children.

The solution? BRIDGE THE GAP! Every 4th Sunday (usually). The school is invited to the worship services. A children's choir sings. Special music is provided. Children who are excelling in academics and other activities are honored. And a special offering is taken up to fund the BRIDGE THE GAP FUND, a fund set up to help pay tuition for needy families on a case-by-case basis.

Be sure to make it to our services on BRIDGE THE GAP SUNDAYS. See how God is bridging the gap in astonishing ways through His Son and through the ministries He has given us!

NEXT BRIDGE THE GAP SUNDAY IS FEBRUARY 28, 2010. YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED. WE GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE BLESSED IMMEASURABLY!
