Our sixth to eighth grade students were fabulous. The staff at the camp said, “Please bring back the students going into sixth grade next year.” Thank you, Mrs. Croydon, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson and Mr. Larsen for being there with the students. I am sure you are exhausted still. We appreciate you!!!!!
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
WE HAVE THE BEST STAFF IN THE WORLD. Praise God for blessing us with their enthusiasm and devotion to our children and their learning. This is a great time to have your child say, “ I Appreciate You!”
Thank you to those parents who are celebrating our staff with food and other thoughtful gifts.

Students will have their pictures taken in fun class groups. They will be available to purchase in 2 or 3 weeks at $5.00 each. I will send home a note as soon as they are ready.
Zoo Field Trip
Attached you will find a permission slip to attend a field trip to the Washington Park Zoo. We need to have the form returned with chaperone information by next Tuesday, May 12th so we can order the tickets. The Max- bus tickets must be ordered 2 weeks in advance or we pay full price not the class trip price.
Only the kindergarten- third grade students will be going. If we do not have enough chaperones, we cannot go. This will count as volunteer hours. Please join us! It will be fun!!!!!!!!
School Library
May 4 is the first day the library will be open to checkout books. We still need help organizing books. This is an easy way to get in some volunteer hours. If you can come and help us get books to the correct shelves in alphabetical order in the weeks to come, e-mail or call Mrs. Thornton. I will have Mrs. O’Neal show you what needs to be completed.
I want to allow all students to check-out books from the library to take home. I am asking parents to sign a permission slip. As with any library, parents help their child share in the responsibility in caring for and returning the books. Sign and send back the permission slip received today.

Science Fair was great!!!!!
Thank you to all families that came and shared their projects. I certainly learned a lot. There was everything from the earth, life, and physical sciences. I was fascinated by the observations and hypothesis that were made. Many of you even got your grades on the projects at your conferences.
We also made up for the extra snow day we had in December. We won’t have to add a day on to the end of the year.

Background Checks
As of April 1st, it is required that anyone who volunteers to work at school with children have a completed background check.
OMSI Field Trip-
We need many chaperones to help on April 23rd. We will be leaving at 9:30 AM and returning by 2:30 PM. Parents must have a completed background check to go on this day. We will also ask each parent to bring $5.00 for entrance and to watch the scheduled planetarium or Omnimax shows. It is important we have many adults to keep the ratio of children to adults low.
Parent Volunteer Meeting-
Tuesday, April 7th is the next scheduled meeting. The meeting counts as a volunteer hour. Join us at 6:00 PM. We will discuss subjects including the Rummage Sale to be held on June 4th-6th and teacher appreciation week. Each parent needs to attend and share ideas. We need to work together to make our school the best it can be.
Volunteer Hours-
There are less than 3 months left to complete your 20 volunteer hours. The hours must be finished by June 15th or you will receive a bill for the hours not completed up to $200. We will have ways to volunteer including helping with the library which has shelves ready.
Clean Up Day- April 4th
The church and school members are asked to come and help to help clean the outside of the church/school. A list of ways to sign up to help is on a table in the entry hall.
Please come help.
Popcorn Sales and Parent’s Night Out-
The 6th grade students will try to finish raising money for their outdoor school experience with these 2 fundraising events. Popcorn will be sold Tuesday, March 31st after school for $1.00 a bag. The night out for parents is on Thursday, April 16th. The cost ranges from $20-$30 and is from 5:00 PM-9:00 PM. Remember there is no school Thursday or Friday because of conferences.
